The 4th richest man in the world with a net worth of $116 billions...........

From just Rs 100 in pocket to making millions at the age of 20 to now being the 4th richest man in the world with a net worth of $116 bn, here's how Gautam Adani created his own wealth from scratch.

The first instinct of any entrepreneur - drop out of college. That's what Adani did in 2nd year of college to start working. Coming from a humble background, with 7 siblings, he didn't want to join the mainstream textile business where his father was a merchant.

At the age of 18, Adani moved to Mumbai & worked as a diamond sorter. With all the knowledge he gathered 2-3 years, he set up a diamond brokerage & became a #millionaire at the age of 20!!

This was a defining start for him. But something big was just about to come when his brother, Mahasukh Adani, called him back to Ahmedabad to work at a plastic factory which he started.

Gautam imported PVC to India in the factory & enjoyed the global #trade arena. This is where he learnt the most & used it to the fullest to start his own commodities import and export firm, Adani Group in 1988.

He was initially trading on agricultural products and power. But, a sea change came when the #liberalisation policy came in 1991. He used this opportunity like no other and with time, diversified into power, coal, oil & gas, ports.

Adani & ports have a deep story! During his childhood, when Gautam visited Kandla Port on a school tour, he promised himself to build a similar port one day. He fulfilled his promise in 1988 when he got the Gov's contract to build the Mundra Port, which today is the biggest cargo port in #india.

In his words, there were 2 turning points in his life:

1) When Gov relaxed import norms in 1985 & he began imports of raw materials and entered trading.
2) In 1995, when he got into the port sector, where today he has a monopoly & is India's largest port owner!

With struggle & work in #business, Gautam Adani has faced life challenges on personal front too,

~ He was kidnapped in 1998 at a gunpoint for ransom when he left a club in Ahmedabad.

~ Adani got luckily saved from the 26/11 terror attack as he was at Taj that day & a soldier named Praveen Kumar Teotia helped him hide in a basement.

His story is just as evergreen as his buying capacity currently in the market, with many #acquisitions in cement, power, ports & drone sector.

Do you think a movie should be made on this self made billionaire? If so, which actor would do justice to a role like his? :)
